Widening Program on National Freeway No. 1 from Wugu to Yangmei
Widening Program on National Freeway No. 1 from Wugu to Yangmei

Product Description

National Freeway No. 1 opened to the public in 1978, during this 30 years period provided and facilitated, sustained economic development to the country.  National Freeway No. 1 connects Wugu and Yangmei linking the Technology Industry Center in Hsinchu and the political and economic center of Taipei, establishes an extensive road network linking major Taiwan’s technological production centers along the route including Taoyuan International Aiport.  It located at heart of Taiwan economy and acts as gateway to world.  Due to the poor service rating, the freeway operates at a much lower effeciency level than desired and influenced country’s development and national productivity.  Thus, improvement strategy must be determined.

This program involves the widening of a total length of 40km of National Freeway No. 1. The design method of this project involves the construction of elevated roadways along both sides of the existing freeway. At Taoyuan International Airport, two of these widening lanes will be dedicated to provide an access point to and from the airport. The Zhongli Emergency Runway and Taishan Toll Plaza will provide access and transfer between main and the expansion.  TY Lin International Taiwan made feasibility study of this program along with an environmental impact assessment from 2004 to 2008 and has been involved with the engineering planning and detail design of priority sectors since 2009.
