Product Description

The State of Penang is in rapid economic growth due to its transformation from an agriculture economy to high-tech base. Penang has become a focus for the state of the art electronics manufacturing, which boost the country’s economy and elevate Malaysia influence the world.
Alongside rapid growth and development, the existing infrastructure, particularly, current transportation system is overloaded and required to improve and upgrade. The high increase in traffic volume on the Island results in worsening traffic congestion and pollution problems. The Penang State Government is seeking not only to resolve the traffic problems but also to implement a longer term solution for its transportation.
Therefore, the commission of a new Metro Line is crucial towards alleviating the traffic congestion problem within the island and in line with the Government of Malaysia’s plans to promote, and implement a safe, reliable, and sustainable public integrated transport system with the intention to raise the current public transport mode share.
Therefore, here comes for this proposed metro project in northern state. TYLin provide the line wide alignment engineering consultancy services in this project. The proposed metro project includes the elevated line around 20 km with 20 elevated stations and extension line around 5 km with 5 elevated stations and one depot.
TYLin is responsible for line wide alignment scheme design, track work layout plan and etc. The alignment option report outlines the evaluation and selection of the alignment options of the proposed LRT Penang starting from KOMTAR to Penang Airport. The total length of this alignment is estimated to be 26.8 km. A total of 25 stations are proposed along this alignment. This proposed alignment will interchange with future lines at KOMTAR Station and Sg. Pinang Station. One of the stations will be directly linked to the Penang Airport Terminal.
