Product Description

Designed by Moshe Safdie Architects as a symbolic gesture of welcome to guests, the lotus-shaped ArtScience Museum (ASM) is situated at the north-west extremity of the MBS site overlooking Marina Bay. The overall structure comprises two levels of concrete basement below ground plus the sculptural steel frame of the lotus itself. The asymmetrical museum structure, reaches upward into the skyline as high as 60 meters and is supported by an elaborate steel lattice. This assembly is supported by ten columns and tied down at its center by a baske structure t-like diagrid–a sculptural centerpiece that accommodates the asymmetrical forces that the building’s form generates. The result is a seemingly weightless building that hovers above the ground.
