Far East Plaza, located on Dunhua South Road, Taipei City, complex of 42-story twin tower with a 5 basements structure, is one of the landmarks in Taipei, and it was completed in 1994. A luxury five-star hotel (north side) and the office tower (south side) together with a 6-story podium of high-class shopping mall in between the two towers. Steel and steel-concrete composite members were used to achieve a cost saving and good story drift control. A handsome architecture expansion was based on western geometric planning techniques. Towers were two squares meeting at the corners and then encircled by two circular cones, thus forming a spectacular architecturally pleasant looking structure. Tower box columns were fc'≧6000 psi concrete filled up to 18th floor.
