The Guandu Bridge lies across the Tamsui River, about 10 km from it’s mouth. It is the first section of Provincial Highway No. 15, connecting the Tamsui and Bali Districts. The bridge is 539 meters long and 19 meter wide. It is a five spans continuous steel tied parabolic arch structure with span lengths of 44-143-165-143-44 meters. The bridge foundations are caissons and steel piles. The Guandu Bridge is one of the longest arch bridges in Taiwan, and it has become one of the most attractive landmarks on the Tamsui River. It is also one of the master pieces of the late founder Prof. T. Y. Lin.
