  »  NEWS  2024-02-06 Taipei Dome -structure construction consultant service

Celebrations for the grand opening of Taipei Dome Complex with excited fans snapping up tickets in seconds to get a seat for its first concert and inaugural baseball game. T.Y. Lin Taiwan provided professional consultancy, integration and construction review services technologies during the construction period (2012~2015). It is located within a historic precinct in the city, next to a prominent cultural site, the Taipei Dome has a large indoor space span (length:230meters; width:170 meters) and utilizes more than 7000 steel pipe trusses. Farglory Group commissioned to provide construction consulting services of Taipei Dome as the most important competition venue for the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade as scheduled. The originally phase planned to use the traditional site support method to construct the roof, which erecting a large number of supporting frames on the platform for assembleing the roof trusses, which occupied a large amount of construction space and lines of movement & impact the progress of other items installation. The numerous welded joints quality is not conducive . T.Y.LIN Taiwan’s professional team led by James Tai, Hu Ming- Huang, Yang Yi-Lin, Yuan Cheng-Ping, Lee Kuo-Chiang, Chou Chin-Hua, Simon Ou and Kuo Hsi-Wei. It was the first roof lifting method & the largest asymmetrical structure in Taiwan, and the construction period was shortened within two years.

Taipei Dome, with a weight of 65000 tonnes and the roof weighs 9410 tonnes. the first lift was 11m to a height of 25 m with a weight of 1900 tonnes, while the second lift of the roof weighs 4600 tonnes in total and was lifted to a height of 62m above ground level. The geometry has become a true free form double curvature, meaning complex dimensioning for both the documentation and construction phases. The internal perspective has an exposed main roof structure and extensive use of parametric computer engineering during the documentation period to optimize both the form and the cladding modulations. More than 7000 steel pipe trusses were used in the structure, with a maximum of 11 steel pipes at one node. From the interior, it looks like a modern art concert hall with a perfect combination of art and craftsmanship. T.Y. LIN Taiwan utilized new technologies and boost the productivity and creativity in collaborative culture with honorable for T.Y.Lin project team.
