  »  NEWS  2023-11-28 Kaohsiung Jiuru Bridge reconstruction groundbreaking ceremony

Kaohsiung Jiuru Bridge reconstruction project held a groundbreaking ceremony dated November 26, which designed by T.Y.LIN Taiwan.  President Ray Wang with the design team to attend ceremony company with the mayor of Kaohsiung Municipal Government.

Kaohsiung Jiuru Bridge was built in 1965, linking congested Gushan and Sanmin districts, which the main bridge and the approach roads on both sides for 624 meters long across the Love River. As service life of the Jiuru Bridge is decommissioned with the condition of aging & deteriorating, the last Jiuru Bridge will be reconstructed after the Kaohsiung Railway Undergrounding Project removes the existing land bridges and underpasses, and is expected to opened service on 2026.

T.Y. Lin Taiwan has performed the design work since 2023 March, including planning the bridge optimizes demolition method with construction progress and traffic safety, and under the premise of reducing the construction risk. It is mainly to accelerate the progress of the work, & to mitigate local traffic jam during the construction stage.

The details design is aligned with the green road concept of energy-saving and carbon-reducing human-centered transport, and integrating the landscape resources on both sides of the Love River, to create an overall surrounding of human-centered and life-centered design. The demolition and reconstruction of the bridge will mainly optimize the city skyline and link up the landscape resources on embankment. Through the hinterland vacated after the removal of the bridge, the surrounding area will be shaped into a water and green livarable city.
