Water Resources Department, New Taipei City Government restore ecological enhancement project (design and supervision by T.Y.LIN International Taiwan) in Bitan (Xindian Creek). Recently, mitten crabs have been observed in the prosperous scene. Hemp ropes were laid on the construction site to create a crab climbing passage, countermeasures adopting by ecological team experts.

The phenomena are mitten crabs spend most of their life in fresh water (Xindian Creek) and return to brackish water to hatch their eggs.
